My artistic guide for these illuminations is the miniature world of the great medieval and Renaissance manuscripts.
I am inspired by the poetry of nature and my subject is the natural world in all its profound diversity. In these pieces. I portray the flowers, fruits, and landscapes of biblical iiterature.
Notes on materials:
Either calf or goatskin parchmen was used for all illuminationst. Gold leaf in various weights and shades used for gilding; 24K yellow, 23.75 Roseanoble, 22K, 16K pale, and 24k gold powder mixed with a binder and used as pigment. Colors include ground malachite and lapis lazuli and modern lightfast pigments.
